Women should apply for the logistics job, regardless of perceived qualifications

CEO of Transflo Renee Krug has a bone to pick with gender disparities in the trucking industry. At the Women In Trucking Association’s Accelerate! Conference & Expo in November, Krug served as a keynote speaker and highlighted the trend of imposter syndrome among women in the industry. She encourages women to apply for the position regardless of perceived qualifications or lack thereof, citing the number of women who pass on opportunities simply due to the belief that they are lucky to be where they are.

The trucking and logistics industry has traditionally been male-dominated, with women making up a small percentage of drivers and other roles in the field. This gender disparity can be attributed to a number of factors, including societal stereotypes and biases, lack of female representation in the industry, and barriers to entry for women. Additionally, the industry's long-haul and overnight nature have been referenced as making it a less appealing career choice to women who may have caregiving responsibilities at home. As a result, women are underrepresented in the industry and may face discrimination and other challenges on the job.
