CA representatives introduce bill to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions at ports

🚢 Congressman Alan Lowenthal (CA-47) and Congresswomen Nanette Barragán (CA-44) have presented a bill to Congress that seeks to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from international ships docked at U.S. ports.

The bill called the Clean Shipping Act will set new carbon intensity standards for ships coming from overseas and this move will hopefully eliminate in-port ship emissions by the year 2030. Currently, there is only a goal in place for reducing 50% of overall emissions by 2050.
