A Manhattan jury has indicted former U.S. President Donald Trump, marking the first time a former president has ever faced criminal charges. This comes after adult film star Stormy Daniels claimed that Trump paid her $130,000 in 2016 during his presidential campaign. Daniels alleges that she slept with Donald Trump in 2006, which he denies. Trump has stated that the money was a legal expense. Inflation & Money Matters πŸ’°

Inflation is slowing, says feds

A gauge used by the Federal Reserve to track inflation has shown a major slowdown in the last month. While inflation hasn’t stopped, it has slowed rising. From January to February, inflation went up 0.3%,  - which is a lot less than the rise in December to January of 0.6%. This is still good news even though inflation is still a hot topic on everyone’s mind. The report also showed that consumer spending only rose 0.2%, compared to the 2% rise in spending the previous month. The positive news is that people are still spending money, even if it isn’t as much as in previous months, which is going to be needed in the upcoming months.

The Federal Reserve uses a variety of measures to gauge inflation, but the most commonly cited measure is the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index. This index is calculated by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) and measures changes in the prices of goods and services that are purchased by households in the United States. The Federal Reserve also looks at other measures of inflation, such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Producer Price Index (PPI). The CPI measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by urban consumers, while the PPI measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by producers. In addition to these measures, the Federal Reserve also looks at various measures of inflation expectations, such as surveys of households and businesses. These measures provide insight into how people expect prices to change in the future, which can influence their behavior and ultimately impact inflation.
