$7,500 EV tax credit final rules delayed until March 2023
Good morning! Welcome to the new year! 2023 is already setting off to a good start. ☀️
The Biden Administration’s landmark climate bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, included provisions for electric-vehicle tax credits of up to $7,500. While many cheered this news, the US Treasury Department (which is responsible for managing the government's finances and financial operations) has advised that it will need to further analyze the interpretation of this tax credit allowance and the final rules will now be announced in March 2023. Currently, the existing rules grant tax credits based on being manufactured in North America, and all raw materials and batteries would have been processed in countries that have agreements with the United States.

Supply chain workers are tired of jobs: they want careers, instead. A job is a specific role or task that you perform in exchange for payment. It often involves setting goals, building skills, and gaining experience in a particular field or industry. A career typically requires a significant amount of education, training, and/or work experience, and it often involves a certain level of advancement or advancement opportunities.
Hiring and retaining supply chain workers in the office, behind the wheel, and in the warehouse has been a struggle for many years. Organizations will need to reassess how they offer positions to workers in a post-Covid labor force. Low wages, long hours, and little room for growth will no longer make the cut.

New $1.7 trillion spending bill includes new rules for CMV safety
On December 29th, Congress passed the federal spending bill that will keep the government operating fiscally through September. In the bill, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is requested to commence its reevaluation of visibility regulations in regard to 10,000+ lb. commercial trucks. A special reflective tape was recommended to help regulate the issue.
The bill includes over $106 billion to be allocated to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and its agencies and another $800 million for infrastructure improvements to be distributed across the nation via grants.

🇪🇨 Drug trafficking via shipping containers is on the rise in Ecuador. The South American country on the continent’s west coast Is reporting a 400% increase in shipping container contamination with drugs. Exports of bananas, shrimp, and cacao were just a few of the products at risk of organized criminal groups infiltrating to transport drugs out of the country. Ivan Ontaneda, president of the cacao exporters association, has publically spoken about the country losing markets because international customers do not want to be involved in criminal behavior. The contamination of the nation’s supply chain is becoming an overwhelming issue, but President Guillermo Lasso has not yet issued a response.
