Covid 19-era HOS emergency declaration proves that drivers can deliver


In March 2020, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued an emergency order in light of the pandemic, providing some regulatory relief from a handful hours-of-service regulations truckers had been relegated to previously. These truckers, who were now front-line workers, were forced to return to their cabs and deliver much needed medical supplies, vaccines, and groceries to the wider public.

Now, representatives are asking Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg why this regulation was ever in place to begin with. Representative Brian Mast. (R-Fla) is making the push to Congress to allow all drivers to benefit from this covid-19 era exemption, whether they haul “emergency freight” or not.
