Canadian grain spilleth over; rail system is overwhelmed


🌾 Grain spilleth over. Canada’s grain harvest was astronomical this fall - the 3rd largest crop on record - but the country is struggling to get enough rail cars to transport it all. The country’s largest two railroads, the Canadian National Railway Co. and the Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. are not able to keep up, unable to fulfill almost 2,400 grain-car orders. This Canadian grain crop comes as a welcome supply to the world that has been dealing with shortages since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.
