Semiconductors are used in a wide variety of electronic components in modern vehicles, including engine control units, infotainment systems, and safety features such as airbags and anti-lock brakes. Without these components, the production of vehicles is delayed, which leads to supply chain disruptions and ultimately impacts the availability of vehicles for consumers. While automakers are working to mitigate the impact of the shortage, it may take time for the industry to fully recover.
