Trucking industry C-level talent is in high demand
Good morning! It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day & Civil Rights Day today.
As we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are reminded of the importance of standing up for what is right and fighting for justice and equality. In the world of the supply chain, this means ensuring that our practices are fair and equitable for all members of the supply chain, from the farmers and manufacturers to the truck drivers and warehouse workers. Airlines claims FAA needs more federal funding after nationwide outage
If you’re one of the many unlucky souls who had a delayed or canceled flight last week due to the unprecedented FAA outage, you aren’t alone. Disrupting more than 10,000 flights on Wednesday alone, the Federal Aviation Administration blamed the system outage on personnel who “failed to follow procedure”. Wouldn’t want to be that employee.
Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian is calling for governmental action. Deeming the incident as completely unacceptable, Bastian spoke on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” about the need for Washington DC to step in and provide the proper funding and tools needed to operate a fluid air travel system in the United States. The FAA's air traffic control system is in need of modernization to keep pace with advancements in technology and increasing air traffic. Proper funding can help facilitate these upgrades.

Women should apply for the logistics job, regardless of perceived qualifications
CEO of Transflo Renee Krug has a bone to pick with gender disparities in the trucking industry. At the Women In Trucking Association’s Accelerate! Conference & Expo in November, Krug served as a keynote speaker and highlighted the trend of imposter syndrome among women in the industry. She encourages women to apply for the position regardless of perceived qualifications or lack thereof, citing the number of women who pass on opportunities simply due to the belief that they are lucky to be where they are.
The trucking and logistics industry has traditionally been male-dominated, with women making up a small percentage of drivers and other roles in the field. This gender disparity can be attributed to a number of factors, including societal stereotypes and biases, lack of female representation in the industry, and barriers to entry for women. Additionally, the industry's long-haul and overnight nature have been referenced as making it a less appealing career choice to women who may have caregiving responsibilities at home. As a result, women are underrepresented in the industry and may face discrimination and other challenges on the job.
