Quebec Trucking Firm VP Sentenced to 10 Years in U.S. for Cross-Border Cocaine Smuggling


Guillaume Latour-Laitre, the vice president of a Quebec trucking firm, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the United States for his involvement in a cross-border cocaine smuggling operation. Latour-Laitre oversaw the smuggling of a significant amount of cocaine from the United States into Canada using a company truck with a hidden compartment. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance and admitted to working with a drug trafficking organization. The case highlighted his role in exploiting perceived weaknesses in law enforcement oversight within the transport industry.
