Astronomical airfare is painful for travelers, but signals a healthier industry for airlines

✈️ Now that the Euro is equivalent to the U.S. dollar, many people want to book their European vacation - but the airfares are astronomical due to the rising fuel prices.

But the high price tag might not be such a bad thing, after all. The COVID-19 pandemic was quite the blow to the airlines, but since the beginning of 2022, the price of jet fuel skyrocketed by approximately 90 %. Those prices have caused some short-term pain for travelers, for certain. But the increase in marginal costs of flying has created a healthier industry and economics for the sector, increasing the profitability of airlines that were, not long ago, on the brink of total annihilation.
