🦾 Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com brings new tech to California warehouses.

Dubbed “self-operating warehouses”, the logistics service provider is expanding its technology to North America with the goal of optimizing inventory and storage for retailers. The tech involves automation from the point where trucks deliver goods to the warehouse to when forklifts transfer those goods to corresponding trucks for delivery to their final destinations. Currently, JD.com operates over 1,500 warehouses in China alone and covers approximately 9.7 million square feet of space. JD.com cites the growing holding costs for companies due to B2B and B2C growth of demand for why the tech is expanding to the United States west coast.
