Chinese solar manufacturing giants buckle down against international trade challenges


China is asking some of its biggest solar panel manufacturing companies to get tough and hold steady against an incoming barrage of international “threats” to their trade power. A growing number of international markets are posing threats to the Chinese industry, with anti-dumping investigations, human rights issues, and questions about the company’s carbon footprints.

Wang Xin, deputy director of the Ministry of Commerce’s trade remedy and investigation bureau, spoke at the China Photovoltaic Industry Association’s annual conference last week. Wang urged Chinese companies to protect the global supply chain for clean energy equipment by working closely together with foreign solar industry associations, while still maintaining a competitive advantage.
