The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) Index has reported what we may have already known: they is a lack of diversity regarding women in technician shops. In a recent survey conducted by the WIT, only about 13.7% of all the drivers are female and approximately 3.7% of technicians in transportation companies are women.

WIT President Ellen Voie has been vocal about the need to increase these numbers to diversify the workplace. In an effort to promote this career choice to women, the Women in Trucking foundation provides scholarships for training in these areas.
