White House flirts with idea of buying up oil to refill depleted reserves


It’s expected that when crude prices drop below $80 a barrel, the United States will begin buying up oil to refill its low reserves. In March of 2022, the Biden Administration ordered the release of 180 million barrels from the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve in a bid to offset the growing oil problem.

After the release of the stockpile, the reserve is sitting at its lowest level since 1984.
