Freight Railroad Alert Level Raised Amid Growing Concerns


West Coast port tensions and slowdowns caused by labor disputes are spreading congestion to freight railroads, raising concerns for the supply chain. The Pacific Ocean region of ITS Logistics' U.S. Port/Rail Ramp Freight Index has been raised to "Red" due to the breakdown of talks between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association. Shippers are advised to stay vigilant as the situation remains fluid, and some are exploring alternative options such as utilizing ports on the Gulf Coast and East Coast to alleviate congestion.
