The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that it would likely need to manage traffic flow into major cities like New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Charlotte due to reduced visibility. Hundreds of flights were delayed, with LaGuardia Airport in New York and Newark Liberty International Airport being particularly affected, prompting airlines like American Airlines and United Airlines to waive change fees and fare differences for affected travelers.
