GM and UAW Resume Negotiations Amidst Ford Labor Agreement and Ongoing Strike Impact


Negotiations between General Motors (GM) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) resumed in an effort to reach a labor contract deal and end a six-week-long strike. Talks with Chrysler's parent company Stellantis were also scheduled to resume soon. Ford Motor recently negotiated an agreement, which is expected to set a pattern for GM and Stellantis contracts, including a 25% wage hike over the contract's duration and other benefits. The strike has cost Ford $1.3 billion in earnings and 80,000 vehicles, according to Ford's CFO.
