In Matamoros, Mexican officials began clearing out an encampment near the Rio Grande, signaling Mexico's willingness to cooperate in curbing illegal crossings, partly due to the temporary closure of key border rail crossings by the U.S. Mexico is eager to reopen crossings for its manufactured goods. However, challenges remain as migrants face limited shelter options, and the U.S. seeks to address the root causes of migration by providing development aid and reducing sanctions on certain countries.
