A Nov. 8 derailment of South Africa’s Transnet SOC Ltd shipment to the Richards Bay Coal Terminal has spiraled out of control as community leaders and a group known as the Ulundi Business Forum demanded contracts and business opportunities in the event. When Transnet refused the Forum, violence ensued.
