Manufacturing Diversification to Drive Container Shipping Growth, says ONE CEO


According to ONE CEO Jeremy Nixon, as manufacturers increasingly diversify their production away from China, it will lead to growth in container shipping. While there is currently weak demand and excess inventory due to over-ordering in 2022, Nixon believes that overall container volumes will grow as manufacturers reduce their reliance on China and outsource to locations such as Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, and South America. Despite concerns about the over-ordering of large ships, improvements in terminal infrastructure in these regions are expected to support the manufacturing shift and drive down carbon emissions.
