Sonoma County city bans new gas stations

Petaluma in Sonoma County, California has achieved a monumental goal of prohibiting the construction of new gas stations within the city limits. Four other Bay Area cities followed suit after the law passed last year, and now policymakers are hoping the trend will continue in Southern California.

The efforts are meant to reduce carbon emissions and the state has already pledged to stop selling fuel-powered vehicles by 2035.
