United Airlines Introduces WILMA Boarding System to Streamline Passenger Boarding


United Airlines is implementing a new boarding procedure, known as WILMA (window-middle-aisle), starting from October 26. This method prioritizes boarding window seat passengers in economy class without frequent flyer status, followed by those in middle seats and, finally, passengers in aisle seats. United claims that this approach can save up to two minutes of boarding time and is aimed at improving the efficiency of the boarding process. However, aviation experts like John Milne of Clarkson University have suggested alternative methods, such as the "reverse pyramid," which could further enhance boarding efficiency.
