Pentagon Begins Using Funds from Ukraine Aid Package to Expand Munitions Production and Bolster Critical Minerals Supply Chains


The Pentagon has started utilizing the $600 million Defense Production Act funding allocated from the $40 billion Ukraine aid package. These funds aim to support the expansion of munitions production and reduce reliance on Russia and China in critical defense supply chains. Recent grants awarded include investments in rocket propulsion systems, high-priority aluminum production, ball bearing suppliers, and a feasibility study for cobalt mining in Idaho, which is crucial for military applications.
