Holiday Shoppers Expected to Boost Spending


Holiday shoppers are expected to increase their spending this year, but their focus on value and deals is likely to limit growth to pre-pandemic levels, says the National Retail Federation (NRF). The NRF forecasts a 3% to 4% year-over-year increase in holiday sales for November and December, totaling between $957.3 billion and $966.6 billion, excluding spending at automobile dealers, gasoline stations, and restaurants. While this growth is a positive sign, it falls below the spikes seen during the pandemic, and elevated prices and economic uncertainties may temper consumer behavior during the holiday season.
